I am a Graphic Designer that has been working in IT for that last 14 yrs. It has been a long road from where I have started from to where I want to be. I have just got back into doing art after a 8 year break. I am now looking at the next faze of my art, and it is looking like tattooing is that path.

Serving too Many Masters

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 6:30 PM
I am a bit off of my game as of late, I find that I am Serving too Many Masters in my life. I have greater difficulty balancing Family, Work (IT), Band/Music, Art, and now learning to Tattoo. I feel that I am fragmented and can't give each one the attention that they deserve.

I find that I often just slide by throughout the day, only sleeping about 4 hours a night. My mind races never at rest. I so need to focus on my cores and I often feel that I need to relearn every thing I know. I miss the newness and wonderment of discovery and seem to have lost some of my passion and drive along the way. I know that I can do much better work, but I get so hung up on the details, lack of creative inspiration, and with beating my self up with "Is that the best I can do!" AARRGGG!!!

I see such amazing talent out in the world, and seeing my limitations as and artist/designer I just wonder why even bother some days. But then my inner voice yells at me to not give up without a fight, all that I have I've earned and I have not had handout or fancy schooling. But this brings me to where I am. I feel that I just do not have as much fight in me these days as I use-to (Married life will do that).

So I am putting it out to anyone is willing write back, when you hit the wall:

1. What gets you back on track????

2. Where do you find your inspiration to carry??

3. What have you done to improve your skills?

Thanks, for reading my BS blabbering - LOL, some time one just have to vent.

Hey, if you're interested in starting to work in tattoos, I've got a GREAT friend who is a tattoo artist of some repute. You can find her here and she's very nice and helpful if you ever have any questions. Her gallery is also FULL of great work.

But the Mystique I know never ran from a fight. She was a lot of things, sure...a thief, assassin, backstabber, betrayer, piss-poor mother, terrorist, whore...But never a bald-faced coward.
